When a mischievous owl swipes Spire’s treasured staff and scatters his belongings, it’s up to you to track them down! In this cozy puzzle platformer, you play as a squirrel named Spire, tossing magic acorns and swiping your tail to navigate through the treetops in search of your lost items.
This was the first game I worked on with a large team of people across a whole semester, and with that came a lot of challenges. Our team had a disproportionate number of designers, so I struggled to find my niche on the team towards the beginning of development, and often resorted to working on bits and pieces that other designers weren't able to get to. However, as various aspects of the game fell into place, I found my calling as the team's narrative designer in charge of bringing Spire's woodland world to life.
I designed and wrote the flavor text for all the collectibles in the game, writing from the perspective of a curious squirrel trying to make sense of objects from the human world. I collaborated with artists to ensure the art assets for each collectible was in line with my overall narrative vision for the game.
Designed the UI of the game, including the HUD and collectible menu. Supervised the art direction of the UI art assets as our artists refined and finalized them.
I wrote all the text in the game, including dialogue and flavor text. Worked with artists and other designers to flesh out the game's world and its cast of fuzzy characters to bring the setting to life.
